Platewell Automation for CORRIN Biologics
Proposal PA-0417 · 31 October 2026

Ninety-six wells. One plan for Corrin’s clone lab.

Platewell Automation proposes to automate cell-line development at Harbour Point, from the hour a transfected pool arrives to the day a clone is banked. Twelve months, three workcells and one validated record.

Two campaigns a year is the ceiling.

That’s how your team put it across eleven interviews in October. These are their words, lightly trimmed.

“We pick clones by hand until eleven at night, then argue about which picture proves it came from one cell.”
Senior scientist, cell-line development, 13 October
  1. “Our monoclonality evidence lives in three places. An inspector only has to find one gap.”

    Quality, 14 October
  2. “When a campaign slips it’s always the bench. We have the ideas. We don’t have the hands.”

    Upstream lead, 15 October
  3. “I can’t add a third campaign without a second lab, and nobody is building me a second lab.”

    Lab operations, 16 October
  4. “Every campaign we send out costs about $720,000 and two months in someone else’s queue.”

Follow one clone from pool to bank.

Keep scrolling. Well C7 goes from a single cell to a banked lead clone in eleven weeks, with its evidence filed as it goes. Today the same trip takes nineteen.

Well C7Day 0 · 09:02
Day 0 · 09:02

A pool arrives.

Transfected pool CB-117 comes up from Suite 1. Today, this is where nineteen weeks of hand work begins.

Day 0 · 09:40

One cell per well.

Workcell 1 dispenses single cells into 4,608 wells across 48 plates in under an hour. Well C7 gets exactly one.

Day 0 · 10:05

The picture that ends the argument.

Every well is imaged within thirty minutes. C7’s day-0 image is filed against the well in your ELN, with instrument, user and time attached.

Days 1 to 14

It grows while nobody watches.

The incubator stack images every plate daily. Confluence is tracked on its own, and empty or mixed wells drop out without anyone deciding at 11 p.m.

Day 18

Screened overnight.

Workcell 3 runs titer on every surviving well while the lab is dark. C7 comes back second of 1,912 at 2.4 grams per litre.

Week 11

Banked, with its paperwork.

The top five clones move to scale-up and C7 is banked as the lead, with its whole history attached, from the first picture to the last titer.

Four signatures. Four answers.

Each of you asked us one question in discovery. Here is the answer, with a way to check it yourself.

Will automation give us better clones, or just more of them?

Ines, Chief Scientific Officer

Both, and the better part is the evidence. Today Corrin argues monoclonality from two rounds of limiting dilution, which is statistics. Workcell 1 images every well on day 0, so every clone has a picture from its first hour.

Move the seeding density and watch what limiting dilution gives you. The plate is seeded at random, the way a real one is.

Seeding density0.5 cells per well
61%wells stay empty
77%of growing wells began as one cell
95%assurance after two rounds and six weeks
99.7%with workcell 1. One round, a day-0 picture for every well, and no extra weeks.

Can my lab keep running while you build this?

Marcus, Head of Lab Operations

Yes. We never take more than one suite offline at a time, and never for more than two months. Tap a month to see which benches are live and what your team is doing.

Will it stand up to an inspection?

Priya, Quality lead

Ask it the way an inspector would. Each answer names the document that holds the evidence and the well on the plan where that document gets written.

Your team approves every protocol before we run it, and signs the summary report. We never sign for you.

When does it pay for itself?

    Daniel, Chief Financial Officer

Set how many campaigns you expect to run each year. The chart uses the order you build in the price section, so cutting a line there moves the payback here.

    Month 3927 months after go-live
$4,500,000net position at the end of year five
    $2,820,000saved each year once live

    Build the order you’ll sign.

The core is the same in every version. Everything else drops on its own, and each line tells you what changes if it goes.

    Your total$6,200,000
What we’d sign. The full line, one extra incubator stack and a year of uptime cover, for $6,200,000. Workcell 1 alone fixes the evidence problem, but the ceiling only lifts when picking and analytics run behind it. If budget has to move, the uptime plan is the cleanest line to drop.

    When you pay

Plain terms, and what we don’t know yet.

    The terms

    What you’re buying

A fixed price for the scope you choose above. It changes only through a written change order that both sides sign, and we tell you the cost before any change starts.

    When you pay

Twenty percent on signature. The rest follows acceptance tests your scientists run, at our works and then in your lab. Kit that hasn’t passed its factory test doesn’t ship and isn’t billed.

    If a test fails

We fix it and run the test again at our cost. The milestone payment waits until it passes.

    Warranty and uptime

Twelve months of parts and labour from handover. The uptime plan adds a four-hour response, a 98 percent availability target and a quarterly service visit for each year you buy.

    Your data

Every image, method and result lives in your systems and belongs to you. After handover we keep only the support logs you approve.

    Stopping early

Before the first factory test you can stop with thirty days’ notice and pay for work done and parts already ordered. Nothing more.

    Open questions

    1. 1
      Your outsourcing figure

We used $720,000 per outsourced campaign from Daniel’s numbers. If it’s lower, payback moves later. Send us the real figure and we’ll redraw the chart.

    2. 2
      Cooling in Suite 2

The workcells add about 6 kW of heat. Your facilities team hasn’t confirmed the margin. If it needs work, that work is yours and takes about four weeks.

    3. 3
      What counts as the record

Priya’s team decides which LIMS fields are the official record in month 3. That choice shapes the connector, so it can’t slip.

    4. 4
      Your second site

Nothing here covers the Brookfield lab. If you want it, we’d scope it separately once Harbour Point is live.

    The engagement in one line

Four signatures fill the last well.

Sign by 15 December and we hold the January start. Mark yourself ready and we’ll send the order form to all four of you together.
